Call to make success the ‘3rd International Anti-Imperialist Dhaka Conference’

(English/Bengali) Date : 2011-11-11

Comrade Khalequzzaman, General Secretary of the Socialist Party of Bangladesh, has called upon all anti-imperialist, democratic-minded people and organisations in home and abroad to make success the ‘3rd International Anti-Imperialist Dhaka Conference’ jointly organised by ‘International Anti-Imperialist and Peoples’ Solidarity Co-ordinating Committee’(IAPSCC) and Socialist Party of Bangladesh scheduled to be held in Dhaka on 27-29th of November.

He mentioned, “we feel honoured to shoulder the responsibility of organizing the conference as a member organization of IAPSCC. The people of Bangladesh inherits a long tradition of relentless struggle against imperialism. They played a glorious role in the 200 year long struggle against British colonial rule as a part of the undivided Indian sub-continent. From 1947-71, they had to go through a sanguinary fight against the quasi-colonial exploitation of the Pakistani rulers. In 1971, Bangladesh became independent through a armed liberation struggle causing sacrifice of million martyrs. Even after independence, there was series of movements against autocratic military regime and capitalist exploitation. In recent times, movement to resist plundering of mineral resources including gas-coal by the imperialist multi-national companies is invigorating day by day. The people of Bangladesh strongly oppose the imperialist agression on Libya, Iraq & Afganistan; threat to Iran & Syria; blockade & mass killing in Palestine including Gaza by US backed zionist Israel; half century long blockade against socialist Cuba & DPRK; conspiracy to overthrow anti-imperialist popular governments in Venezuella, Bolivia & other Latin American countries and instigating conflicts in African countries to expand domination & to loot their resources.”

He further added, “Considering the grave international situation, the IAPSCC conference will certainly strengthen the on-going anti-imperialist movement of Bangladesh, as well as in this part of the globe. As well, it will play an important role in building a strong and co-ordinated resistance against the naked agression, occupation, terror & direct-indirect exploitation of the imperialist forces led by US.”

IAPSCC Condemns Police Brutality on the Protesters in 'Occupy Wall Street' Movement

(English/Bengali) Date : 2011-11-15

Manik Mukherjee, General Secretary of International Anti-imperialist and People's Solidarity Coordinating Committee (IAPSCC has released the following statement

IAPSCC Condemns Police Brutality on the Protesters in 'Occupy Wall Street' Movement

Ordered by the Mayor of New York the Officers of the New York Police Department swooped down upon the protesters at the Zuccotti Park in the dead of night and evicted every single one of the peaceful- protesters using brutal force and tear gas, pepper spray and a sound cannon. Bulldozers were used to tear down the tents and clear all their belongings. This action follows an even more violent action on Occupy Oakland protesters in California. IAPSCC condemns the brutal police action on peaceful protesters, which is a fascist assault on the democratic rights of the citizens. The Occupy Wall Street movement has spread like wild fire all around the globe expressing people's anger with corporate greed and economic inequality, spawned and nurtured by the capitalist system. The police action once more demonstrates how the government and the administration work for the capitalists nd protect them from the people's wrath. The rulers are afraid of the snowballing effect of the movement and want to crush it before it draws in its fold even larger sections of the people, spelling danger to the existing system. History has demonstrated countless times that repressive measures cannot suppress the people's desire for emancipation. This brutal eviction also will only steel the people's resolve to continue the movement and carry it to a higher stage. IAPSCC expresses its solidarity with people's struggles against capitalist exploitation and oppression.
